Nuts

A nut is a kernel that is made up of a hard, inedible shell and an inner, typically edible seed contained within the shell. Generally, the term ‘nut’ refers to dried seeds; however, in botany, a nut is a pod that does not split open to release its inner seed. It is considered to be a simple dry fruit, the ovary wall of which hardens as it matures and the seed of which remains unattached inside the ovary wall. For the new plant, nuts provide energy and nutrients. Many carrier oils are extracted from these nuts for its nutritional properties.
