Aldehyde

Being the components that exude a citrus-like fragrance, Aldehydes give essential oils uplifting effects. Despite being found in small quantities in plants, they are known for their powerful aromas, often contributing to the total scent of an essential oil. This is evident with Melissa Essential Oil, for example. Though Aldehydes are a minor component of the oil, they contribute to its lemony fragrance. The most common essential oil Aldehydes are Neral, Cinnamaldehyde, and Geranial.
